Core Essentials Skills Training For Experienced Caseworkers
Delivering More Effective Foster Care Services
To achieve consistent outcomes, caseworkers must have a common set of interpersonal, assessment and decision-making skills. PDP staff deliver regionally “Core Essentials,” an outcome-based training initiative that provides child welfare and child protective services staff with the knowledge, skills and abilities they need to achieve the goals of:
- child safety
- family preservation
- youth self-sufficiency in independent living
- adoption and developmental progress for children in the care of OCFS
- an 8-day training divided into 2 alternating weeks
- pre-training readings
- classroom skill development
- pre and post-training conferences with participants
- on the job training activities
