Delivering More Effective Foster Care Services
PDP staff help agencies be more responsive to the needs of children and families by providing best or evidence-based practices through statewide training and technical assistance, and working collaboratively to develop an agency's capacity to build programs so potential and adoptive families come, stay and recruit others.
Staff specialize in team building, helping agencies to develop and sustain partnerships with current foster and adoptive parents, other agencies, and the community.
Developing tools, creating a positive experience
A few of the tools used to help agencies assist families include:
- Assessing recruitment and retention needs
- Identifying strengths and areas for recruitment and retention development
- Developing recruitment and retention materials, including agency “marketing plans”
- Assisting in the development of foster parent support groups
- Coordinating community information forums to aid recruitment efforts
