Assessing Needs for Better Performance

One of the biggest challenges facing today's public agencies is minimizing the time it takes for workers to learn to effectively use new computer systems. During development of a new system, PDP works with the system designers and agency staff to create the most powerful training plans and materials possible—so that staff will be able to use the new system immediately.

Our training developers assess staff's computer knowledge and skills and develop the most appropriate training to accommodate their specific work roles. Typical training is provided as:

  • Train-the-trainer sessions—creating an "expert user" in the workplace by providing agency representatives with system information and training practice
  • Facilitated, instructor-led training—regional and on-site classroom training, led by trainers with extensive system training experience who use portable lab equipment which mimics the typical network configuration at local sites
  • Distance learning courses—delivered in a "virtual classroom" where trainees participate in classes without leaving their offices. Courses are also available as web-based and computer-based training that incorporate simulations of computer systems.
  • One-on-one training for users with special needs
