The Professional Development Program of the University at Albany’s Rockefeller College seeks candidates for a full-time Manager of the Public Service Workshops Program. The successful candidate will manage the development of classroom-based and on-line educational offerings for employees in Professional, Scientific and Technical (PS&T) titles in NYS government. The candidate will continue the development of a statewide network of educational providers, and will interact with the project sponsor, the union representing PS&T unit employees, and liaisons from 60 NYS agencies. The candidate will supervise program staff and will assist with other duties as assigned to fulfill contractual obligations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE or internationally recognized accrediting organization, with a preferred concentration in Public Administration or a related field.
- A minimum of seven years experience in providing leadership and managing the development of continuing education programs.
- A thorough understanding of the structure of NYS government.
- Ability to working in a labor-management environment.
- Excellent writing, speaking, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Access, Word, PowerPoint, Project and Excel).
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Experience in coaching, motivating, and developing the skills of staff.
- Ability to manage numerous tasks and attend to detail.
- Applicants must address in their applications their abilities to work with a culturally diverse population.
- Ability to travel throughout NYS to meet with educational providers and program participants.
- Candidates selected for an interview must bring a writing sample to the interview.

- Prefer prior NYS employment.
