The Professional Development Program of the University at Albany’s Rockefeller College seeks candidates for a full-time Manager of the Public Service Workshops Program. The successful candidate will manage the development of classroom-based and on-line educational offerings for employees in Professional, Scientific and Technical (PS&T) titles in NYS government.  The candidate will continue the development of a statewide network of educational providers, and will interact with the project sponsor, the union representing PS&T unit employees, and liaisons from 60 NYS agencies. The candidate will supervise program staff and will assist with other duties as assigned to fulfill contractual obligations.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE or internationally recognized accrediting organization, with a preferred concentration in Public Administration or a related field.
  • A minimum of seven years experience in providing leadership and managing the development of continuing education programs.
  • A thorough understanding of the structure of NYS government.
  • Ability to working in a labor-management environment.
  • Excellent writing, speaking, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Access, Word, PowerPoint, Project and Excel).
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience in coaching, motivating, and developing the skills of staff.
  • Ability to manage numerous tasks and attend to detail.
  • Applicants must address in their applications their abilities to work with a culturally diverse population.
  • Ability to travel throughout NYS to meet with educational providers and program participants.
  • Candidates selected for an interview must bring a writing sample to the interview.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefer prior NYS employment.

 

Special Notes

Employment is through the Research Foundation of SUNY and is contingent upon continued funding. Salary is expected to be in the low $80’s depending on experience.
