The Professional Development Program of the University at Albany’s Rockefeller College seeks candidates to fill a Sr. Education Specialist position. The selected candidate will deliver Core Essential Skills for Experienced Caseworkers Instructional Program to child welfare staff in local districts and voluntary agencies; coach and mentor on the delivery of outcome-based training and assist Department Manager and Project Team in assuring quality of training; act as liaison with regional offices and local departments of social services and voluntary agencies concerning delivery of training; and other duties as assigned. Full-time position with variable work hours. Ability to travel regularly throughout New York State is required.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization;
- 3 years experience required in New York State Office of Children and Family Services’ local district system or a comparable system within another state providing child welfare services, including child protective services;
- Experience in the development and delivery of instructional programs for adults required; ability to plan and effectively deliver educational programs to large and small groups;
- Excellent writing, speaking and presentation skills;
- Demonstrated computer proficiency in use of e-mail, electronic calendar, computer templates, word processing, PowerPoint, and Internet;
- Applicants must address in their applications their abilities to work with a culturally diverse population;
- Ability to deal with multiple priorities/competing deadlines in team setting;
- Ability to travel throughout New York State regularly to deliver training and attend meetings;
- At time of initial interview, applicants must provide two writing samples. A training curriculum designed and developed for adult learners and a report or memorandum are preferred.
- Candidates selected for a final interview will be asked to give a presentation that focuses specifically on an issue in the child welfare arena.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization in Social Work or related field;
- Experience with outcome-based-training delivery;
- Experience providing supervision in child welfare services;
- Familiarity with CONNECTIONS.
