The Professional Development Program of the University at Albany’s Rockefeller College seeks a candidate to fill a full-time Senior Education Specialist position. The selected candidate will develop and deliver training and technical assistance programs related to Child Welfare Case Recording to caseworkers in local districts of social services and voluntary agencies to support effective casework practices, and will act as liaison with regional offices and local departments of social services concerning delivery of training. The candidate will also assist in the planning, development, and writing of training curricula, and other training material related to Child Welfare Case Recording; deliver training using standard methodologies; assist in the management of training logistics; assist with evaluation and reporting; and other duties as assigned to fulfill contractual obligations. Full-time position with variable work hours. Ability to travel regularly throughout New York State to deliver training is required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.
- Four years experience required in New York State Office of Children and Family Services’ local district system or a comparable system within another state, providing child welfare services.
- Excellent writing, speaking, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Applicants must address in their applications their abilities to work with a culturally diverse population.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the NYS Child Welfare System, and of the principles and practices that guide effective casework services.
- Proficiency in family assessment and service planning, especially as it relates to safety and permanency planning.
- Familiarity with CONNECTIONS.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency in use of e-mail, electronic calendar, computer templates, word processing, PowerPoint, and Internet.
- Ability to conduct training assignments at various locations throughout NYS that may not be served by public transportation.
- Applicants will be required to provide a writing sample.
Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or internationally recognized accrediting organization in Social Welfare or related field.
- Experience in curriculum development, and the delivery of instructional programs for adults.
