Information Technologies Intern
The Professional Development Program (PDP) of the University at Albany’s Rockefeller College seeks a service-minded individual who is committed to performing high-quality work to fill a short-term summer position as a Research Project Assistant/Information Technologies Intern located in Albany, NY.
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Information Systems Manager, the Information Technologies Intern is responsible for providing user support for hardware and software issues, responding to IT support tickets, and assisting in maintaining inventory records. The Information Technologies Intern is responsible for troubleshooting computer-related problems, installing and resolving questions regarding hardware and software, and maintaining databases, records of upgrades, installations, and resolutions to computer issues/problems.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current University at Albany student;
- Experience in hardware installation, repair, and maintenance;
- Experience in end-user support;
- Good organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and excellent communication skills;
- Demonstrated knowledge of network technology, Microsoft Windows troubleshooting, and Microsoft Office products;
- Ability to work with a culturally diverse population;
- Ability to lift and transport equipment up to 40 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting servers and troubleshooting communications on a Microsoft Windows-based network;
- Prior experience providing software training and/or documentation.
Hourly Rate:
$20 per hour.
Hours:
20 to 37.5 hours per week, dependent on availability; position available now through August 18, 2023.
Location:
On-site work at PDP offices at 4 Tower Place in Stuyvesant Plaza is required, with the possibility of limited remote work after the training period has been completed.
