Child Welfare
Workers in the discipline of Child Welfare must be equipped with necessary and up-to-date information, attitudes, skills, and abilities to effectively meet the needs of individuals and families.
To this end, the professionals in PDP’s Department of Child Welfare Training bring extensive work experience to the table—from local districts of social services and voluntary child caring agencies to juvenile justice, counseling, and other service providers.
PDP’s Child Welfare staff offers collective expertise in the areas of:
- Child Protective Services
- Preventive Services
- Foster care/adoption services
- Foster Parent recruitment/retention
- Adolescent Development
- Youth Leadership
- Alcohol and Substance Use education
- Case Management
- Case Recording and Documentation
Participants in our Child Welfare training benefit from our staff members' skills in the application of adult learning theory, curriculum design and development, classroom and online training delivery and group facilitation, and consultation, technical assistance, and resource support services.
To ensure that materials are consistent with current trends and policy, the Department of Child Welfare Training works collaboratively with New York State’s Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) and aligns with OCFS directives and procedures, New York State and Federal legislation, and current research in all relevant subject areas.
